Good Neighbor Energy Fund

Assisting our clients when help is needed the most.

Tri-County Community Action Agency works with clients who have an emergency need of assistance with their heating bill.  Our Weatherization team can walk you through the process of applying for the Rhode Island Good Neighbor Energy Fund.  This program is designed to help Rhode Islanders in need of assistance with their utilities during the cold winter months.  An applicant must provide evidence of a financial crisis.  Funds disbursed from the RI Good Neighbor Energy Fund may only be used for costs related to heat.  This includes electricity, natural gas, oil, propane, and wood or wood byproducts.  Clients cannot receive assistance for more than one energy source.  Clients are eligible for support from the RI Good Neighbor Energy Fund if their household income does not exceed 300% of the federal poverty level.


All residents of Rhode Island may be eligible for this program, if income requirement are also met.  For more information, please contact a member of the Weatherization Team at the following locations:

Tri-County named 2017 David H. Gulvin Chairman’s Award Recipient!
The Rhode Island Good Neighbor Energy Fund, along with the United Way of Rhode Island, recently presented Tri-County Community Action Agency with the David H. Gulvin Chairman’s Award in recognition of their hard work and support of the 2017 “Warm they Neighbor” campaign. The annual campaign, funded by the Good Neighbor Energy Fund, works with several community action agencies like Tri-County, to identify individuals and families in a crisis situation that need assistance with paying their heating bills.
