The Appliance Management Program, funded by National Grid, provides eligible clients with a home energy audit to identify ways to reduce electricity use in your home, and lower your electric bills. The audit includes a visit to your home by a trained Energy Manager who will check usage of major appliances and other electrical devices. The Energy Manager will discuss the results, and will suggest strategies to save energy. You may receive energy efficient products, like LED light bulbs, Energy Star refrigerators or freezers, energy saving power strips, water saving shower heads, energy timers and other products at no cost.

The Tri-County AMP Program is available to income eligible, National Grid customers who are residents of Johnston, Smithfield, North Providence, Burrillville, Glocester, Charlestown, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, New Shoreham, North Kingstown, South Kingstown, West Greenwich, Westerly and Richmond.

Tri-County can provide emergency boiler repair or replacement services for home owners that meet LIHEAP guidelines, which can be found HERE. A member of the Tri-County Weatherization Team will visit your home to inspect your boiler and will make arrangements for a partner energy company to perform any services that are needed. The Emergency Boiler Repair program is available at no cost to those that qualify. Income eligible residents of Johnston, North Providence, Smithfield, Burrillville, Glocester, Charlestown, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, New Shoreham, North Kingstown, Richmond, South Kingstown, West Greenwich and Westerly may apply.

Tri-County Community Action Agency works with clients who have an emergency need of help with their home heating bills during the winter months. Our Emergency Services team can walk you through the process of applying for the Rhode Island Good Neighbor Energy Fund. An applicant must provide evidence of a financial crisis. Funds disbursed from the RI Good Neighbor Energy Fund may only be used for costs related to heat, including electricity, natural gas, oil, propane, and wood or wood byproducts such as pellets. Clients cannot receive assistance for more than one energy source. Clients are eligible for support from the RI Good Neighbor Energy Fund if their household income does not exceed 300% of the federal poverty level.

Tri-County can help with home energy bills! Through the LIHEAP program, we can help cover the cost of fuel and utility bills during the winter months. Many home heating methods are included, such as the cost of heating homes with gas, electric, propane, oil, kerosene or wood burning systems.

The Tri-County LIHEAP program is available to residents of Johnston, North Providence, Smithfield, Burrillville, Glocester, Charlestown, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, New Shoreham, North Kingstown, Richmond, South Kingstown, West Greenwich and Westerly. Residents must meet income guidelines which can be found HERE.

Applications for households new to the Tri-County LIHEAP program are accepted October through April. To submit an application during these months, CLICK HERE. If you participated in the Tri-County LIHEAP program last season, you will automatically receive a renewal application in the mail.

The Weatherization program helps eligible individuals and families to reduce their home energy use and increase energy efficiency. Reducing home energy use can help to lower the cost of energy bills. If you qualify, a Tri-County trained auditor will visit your home to find opportunities to reduce energy waste, and increase efficiency. Once the home audit is complete, the auditor will make recommendations for home improvements such as the installation of insulation, weather-stripping, pipe wrapping, and/or air sealing. The auditor will make arrangements to complete any work, at no cost to the home owner.
